Hair Lounge at CBR started in 2013 as a salon that was exactly as the name described - a place so comfortable
it felt like your lounge room! Ten years later, passionate hairdresser Georgia fell in love with the space and purchased it from the original owners, with the dream to make it the most inclusive and welcoming salon in the South of Adelaide.
Having lived experience of both a psychosocial and physical disability, Georgia is dedicated on transforming the salon to one where everyone is welcome to have their hair professionally done at an affordable price - whatever that way of expressing themselves looks like for them!
Meet Georgia
Hi! I'm Georgia!
I am an AuDHD mother of two beautiful girls, Elsie and Elizabeth (or ‘Lizzie the Lizard’ as you will hear in Salon!).
I am originally from Essex, England, but have been in Australia since 2015, and it wasn’t until I relocated to Adelaide that I started my hairdressing journey.
After hunting for a job for several months with no success, I decided to look into what short courses I could do to pass the time. I decided to try a Certificate 2 in Salon Assistance, hoping that I might learn to do my own hair! I did not, in fact, learn to do my own hair, but I did fall in love with hairdressing and the spark came alive in me.
Enrolling as a full time student in Hairdressing, I studied hard, striving to do more and more in my studies, always asking to add on to my requirements so I could absorb as much information as possible. I passed my course half a year earlier than most, and found myself a position in a salon quickly in order to work in the real world!
I have worked for several different salons, in areas all around Adelaide and have had the absolute privilege and pleasure of working under some amazing Stylists. I am forever grateful for what they have shown me.
And now, here we are - living my dream of owning my own Salon, and being able to provide services to the community. I love all aspects of hairdressing, but do have a special place in my heart for cuts, up-styles, and complete transformations!
Meet Sorcha
Hello, my name is Sorcha. or Sasha or Portia - depends who you speak to on the day! My name has lots of different pronunciations, and you will hear all of them in Salon.
I moved to Australia in 2009 from England and I grew up around Christies Beach. I love being able to work on beach road, right where I grew up.
In school I used to cut my classmates hair - as you can imagine, I was not liked by very many parents! I was normally in trouble for it, and that led me to deciding I wanted to create new styles later on in life.
I apprenticed at a few different salons in Adelaide, and now have found my home for hairdressing at Hair Lounge at CBR! I'm all signed off from TAFE, and looking forward to finishing my apprenticeship and carrying on creating new and exciting looks for my clients in salon.
I love to do funky vivid colours, copper and red heads and our newest venture - extensions! I also love being able to provide people with simple, easy to manage cuts.
